Terms & Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy ("Terms") apply to the use of the Mahia Haulage Co. website and the removal, transport and rubbish removal services we provide. By requesting a quote, booking a job or otherwise using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
Mahia Haulage Co. ABN 84 804 175 627 is a furniture removal and rubbish disposal business based in Newcastle, NSW, Australia.
2. Quotes & Pricing
All quotes provided through our website quote calculator are estimates only, based on the information you provide. A final price is confirmed by Mahia Haulage Co. before a job is booked.
Our standard rate is $200 per hour, with a 3-hour minimum charged depot-to-depot. Where difficult access applies (see section 4), a higher rate of $220 per hour applies. All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and are exclusive of GST.
- A 10% GST will apply to all charges, including hourly rates, call-out fees and any additional charges.
3. Difficult Access – Terms & Definitions
A "difficult access" fee applies where access to your pickup or drop-off location meets one or more of the criteria below. Where difficult access applies, the rate increases from $200 per hour to $220 per hour.
Difficult access means any of the following:
- Extremely steep or long stairs (more than one standard flight).
- Extremely steep or long driveways that prevent the truck parking close to the entrance.
- Tight or restricted access (narrow corridors, doorways or laneways).
- Spiral staircases.
- Apartment or unit complexes above ground floor with no lift access, or where the lift is out of service.
- Locations where items must be carried a significant distance or over uneven ground.
Customer obligation: You must disclose difficult access conditions when requesting a quote or booking. If your home or premises meets any of the difficult access criteria above, you agree to pay the difficult access fee for the duration of the job. If difficult access is only identified on site, the higher rate will apply from that point and will be confirmed with you before work continues.
4. Inventory & Damage
To protect both you and Mahia Haulage Co., the following process is followed on every removal job:
- An inventory of items to be moved is taken at the beginning of the job, and any noticeable pre-existing damage to furniture or goods is recorded at the same time.
- Inventory and damages are also noted at completion of the job, so that any changes between start and finish are clearly documented.
It is your responsibility to point out any existing damage or fragile items before the crew begins moving them. If you are not present, the crew's recorded inventory and condition notes will be relied upon.
5. Liability
Mahia Haulage Co. takes care with your belongings. Our liability for damage is as follows:
- Any damage caused by our workers during the job will be covered by the company in full.
- No damage will be covered where it was not caused by our workers' fault during the job — including pre-existing damage, damage caused by you or third parties, damage from incorrect or inadequate packing by you, or damage to goods that were not listed on the inventory.
Claims for damage must be reported within 7 days of completion of the job, with the inventory and damage notes taken at the start and end of the job used as the basis for assessment.
6. User Agreement
By submitting a quote request or booking a job, you confirm that:
